Innovating Collective Imagination for Collective Thriving – a dream journey for regeneration

27/05/2021 @ 18:15 - 19:45

Phoebe Tickell is Director of Collective Imagination at Moral Imaginations, an organisation that is developing collective imagination practices to reconnect people to a sense of cosmic identity and meaning. She asks the question, “Can imagination power our moral courage and expanded empathy for the world?” We are excited to welcome her to guide us in a session and speak about her work with communities and cross sector networks.

“Let me share an old Australian aboriginal saying. A culture that loses its dreaming has lost part of its soul. When people lose their dream, they stop living and they start merely existing.“ John Croft

During our last #Regenerate21 event with Ralph Thurm, we discussed the lessons we could draw from the challenges with corona, the climate crisis and economic breakdown. Creating new pathways towards thriving conditions for ecological, social and economic life to thrive requires a new narrative and imaginary. We are therefore pleased to host a next interactive #Regenerate21 event about re-imagining and re-envisioning life in our communities and bioregions.

Looking at the world today can feel depressing. In media and social media, topics like pollution, destruction and violence have become commonplace. We are bombarded with a reality that makes us believe it’s inevitable. At the same time, it can look like there are no more big ideas on how to change our economic system and society. On the one side, we find fatalistic doomsday scenarios and on the other one shallow techno-optimistic redemption promises. While dreamers are disregarded as fools, there is a profound need to reconnect to our personal and cultural dream at a time of a global mental health pandemic and generalised degeneration.

One of the main challenges in going beyond degenerative practices in everyday life, politics or businesses is the inability to change. This change starts from imagining that reality could be different than it is now. Only with this imaginary can we step into planning and creating concrete solutions on our path of self-sufficiency, happiness and health. We have to re-learn and practice flourishing creativity, contemplative moments of silence, celebrating the rhythms of life, and re-imagining our presence on our living planet.

Step with us into an immersive workshop session experience. Dare dream what life could be about in the future. During the interactive event, you’ll also be able to share the insights of your heart, mind and will with other participants. Empower (y)our dreams!
